"What is a Rhema Word from God?
To newer Christians, the word rhema is completely unfamiliar. Long-term believers often speak of [hearing]* the rhema word of God, and they consider it precious and something special enough to continually pursue.

In Greek, the word rhema means "an utterance." Therefore, the rhema word in Biblical terms refers to a portion of scripture that "speaks" to a believer. In most cases, a rhema word received while reading the Bible applies to a current situation or need. In essence, the rhema word is timely and extremely valuable in a Christian's walk with God.
In 2 Timothy 3:16, the Apostle Paul says that God inspired the writers of the Bible. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." In the NIV version of the Bible, it says that Scripture is God-breathed. No matter the interpretation, the writers of the Bible put words to paper as the Holy Spirit instructed them.
With this understanding, Christians can count on the written words contained in the Bible to have deep and personal meaning to their lives. And it is the Holy Spirit who enlightens believers when reading a Scripture, with the goal of imparting wisdom, knowledge or understanding in order to have an immediate impact. This is a great promise of God; that He is with us when we read His word and He is able to make His words come alive in our hearts.
Though the Greek word Rhema does not appear in non-Greek Bibles, Matthew 4:4 is an excellent example of its importance. "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word [rhema] that proceeds out of the mouth of God." In John 6:63, Jesus confirmed this point when he said, "The words [rhema] that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life."
Through daily reading of God's Word, which is referred to as the "logos," (logos), Christians will have knowledge of God and be able to memorize Scripture and to offer non-believers the truth that is written. But in addition to that, God wants to speak to His people and provide insight beyond human understanding. With the help of the Holy Spirit, portions of Scripture that were once words on a page will become rhema. They will have great significance and offer supernatural guidance, comfort, answers and assurances.
Intermittent rhema from Scripture is good, but daily rhema will guide a Christian's steps and move them toward greater understanding, revelation and joy."
